Need help to boot Pogoplug into debian
May 06, 2014 10:30AM
Hi, I have used archlinuxarm on my POGO E02 earlier.
I am trying to boot pogo into debian now. I dont have the ALARM usb now.
I have formatted a 4GB pen drive into ext3 via Gparted live, labelled it rootfs.
I have downloaded and extracted "Debian-3.14.0-kirkwood-tld-1-rootfs-bodhi.tar" into the usb.
I have added the MAC of pogo into /etc/network/interfaces - "hwaddress ether xx:xx:MAC:xx:xx"
I have done this command as well : fw_setenv usb_init "usb start; setenv usb_root LABEL=rootfs"

On rebooting, the usb flashes like trying to boot but then it stops and Pogoplug takes over and i ssh into Pogoplug.

Am I making some error in my steps ?

Try setting the usb rootfstype to ext3:
fw_setenv usb_rootfstype ext3

thanks for prompt reply. Now, booted into debian.

SOLVED

For members running into this trouble:
formatted a 4GB pen drive into ext3 via Gparted live, labelled it rootfs.
extracted "Debian-3.14.0-kirkwood-tld-1-rootfs-bodhi.tar" into the usb.
added the MAC of pogo into /etc/network/interfaces - "hwaddress ether xx:xx:MAC:xx:xx"
run command as well : /usr/sbin/fw_setenv usb_init "usb start; setenv usb_root LABEL=rootfs"
do " /usr/sbin/fw_setenv usb_rootfstype ext3 "
