Pogoplug B04 (OXNAS 820) - unable to boot.
November 16, 2014 07:07PM
Hi,

I have a Pogoplug B04 device (which I assume is Pogoplug Classic v3 regarding to archlinuxarm.com). Recently I have upgraded my uBoot to 2013.10 and tried to use 3.17.0 kernel provided by bodhi.

I've followed all of the steps, including adding ox820-pogoplug-classic.dtb into zImage (i'm using a 1TB usb hdd drive formatted with ext3).
After that I tried to boot to a new filesystem but unfortunatelly with no luck.

Serial console connected shows that the whole process hungs at "Uncompressing Linux... done, booting the kernel.". Googling a bit I assumed that I need to play with "arcNumber" and "machid" variables. I set both to all combinations (arcNumber set w/out machid, with it, even different arcNumbers i.e. for sheevaplug and so) but neither one booted my filesystem.

What I did wrong and how can I fix it? :)

Thanks a lot in advance.

Regards,
smi.

smi,

If you have installed new u-boot then there is no need to append DTB. Since you have serial console, it is safe to follow section A (quote below). It is stuck there because either bootargs or the uImage. If you do want to keep it simple, and run with DTB embbeded, then post the output of printenv in serial console and the bootlog here and I'll take a look.

This section A is the instruction for how to setup u-boot envs to boot with DTB separately.

Hi bohdi,
thanks for your answer. I had indeed messed up bootargs big time ;)
When I reset everything to the example you provided - it worked as a charm.

Thanks again,
smi
