minidlna doesn't rescan - do we have inotify?
October 24, 2010 04:29PM
Hi minidlna users out there,

although my minidlna.conf reads

# set this to no to disable inotify monitoring to automatically discover new files
# note: the default is yes
inotify=yes

I can't get minidlna to refresh its index and serve new files.

Do we have inotify support on our dockstars (standard Debian install)? Any ideas how to get a minidlna index refresh without a daemon restart?

TIA
Heinz

Hey,

This is an old thread, but I'm facing the same issue. Did you find a solution?

When I built my own kernel, inotify config option was enabled, but it doesn't seems to be used in the end. Indeed, there is no such thing as /dev/inotify.

Any ideas? Thanks!

It seems that you just have to create the inotify node in /dev manually in order for it to work

Quote

mknod /dev/inotify c 10 63

and then restart minidlna.

Well, according to this
http://lists.debian.org/debian-user/2005/10/msg02280.html
you don't have /dev/inotify because inotify is handled via sysfs. Did it really solve the problem for you?
