That's seriously nice Leggo. Wow. So I don't need to glue Pringles cans all over mine eh? lol

Pringles, Yuban, whatever floats your boat. Or you could just buy a pre-made one: http://www.cantenna.com/

Nice. I probably will do this, too. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks. You could also put an antenna on the front (LED side) although the way in which the shoe (support) attaches to the enclosure might present some interference issues. I believe the rule of thumb is the antennas should be separated by at least 6 inches (15 cm) so that would be about right. Then it would be just like a router :)

And thinking about Joey's idea about a Cantenna, you could easily make a less than $50 long range wifi bridge out of two Pro's. All you would need to do is run hostapd on one side. I bet you could get at least 1 1/2 miles (2 km) range if you do the cantenna's right.

Strange trivia, if someone can show that phrase being used before 1993, then I didn't invent it. I was drinking one night and a dumb fellow drunk was bragging about how great he is.. lol In my head it was "whatever___your___" and that popped in. That night everyone was laughing over that and over the following months heard it ad nausium. Five years ago my family were watching Wheel of Fortune, like four letters up and I got it. I was accused of seeing the show before. If there's mention before that period in time, then it wasn't the first.

Oh, more important, I regrets not buying a Cantenna at Goodwill months ago. New in the box. If there were chips inside I'd have for sure lol

Speaking of Cantenna's, this project is absolutely over the top: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=51OgiZw0Zjc. Using the Pro's built-in wifi adapter (which has two antenna inputs) is very doable with this design. Or you could use his complete setup (wifi adapter included) with the V4 or E02. You could become the envy of all your leet friends.

Very nice, your PogoPro is now fully loaded :) You should look into adding RAM ;) It's hard to overcome the RAM limitation of these plugs, unless we run specific apps that take advantage of distributing processing.

And thanks for the link about the soldering hot knife tip!

If it were easily done, I'de try. But in this case, that's impossible so my plug is as 'pimped as it's going to get (:-p)

I wonder if using a digital parabola disc on each premise will do.

Probably.....but that wouldn't be any fun!

Here is a good candidate for the Pogo Pro/Classic internal SDD. This Sandisk Readycache 32GB has become quite inexpensive (comparing to when Sandisk started to sell it to the Windows PC market). It is thin enough to install on the backside of the board. An SSD is ideal inside the Pogo since it is running cool.

I recalled getting this on sale for about $30 to use as the main drive for my HTPC.

LeggoMyEggo,

I suppose the data for the Pro shown in this Pro vs. E02 - Some Benchmarks was obtained from your PogoPlug Pro unit with the above mod, right?

FYI - on the Pogoplug Pro, you do not need to register and activate via my.pogoplug.com website to gain SSH access. The backdoor method works.

I recall reading about some concerns with activation and using a serial connection to get around it.

curl -k "https://root:ceadmin@[PogoplugIPAddress]/sqdiag/HBPlug?action=command&command=dropbear%20start";

Cool. I will try that next time when I get one more PogoPlug Pro. Thank you.

My 3rd PogoPro, still in the box like a seed planted for Spring (heh) is specifically there for using serial method. Thanks Gray & Gravel.

Nothing here but just an update for the rebate status.

Finally, I received an e-mail stating that my rebate has been approved and should be receiving the rebate AmEx card within 5 weeks. This means my PogoPlug pro P02 is under $5. Now, the problem will be how to maximize the spending of $10 rebate AmEx card before it expires. I wonder if I can use it to pay my PayPal. nevertheless, if anyone has a clue, I am all ears.

I've found many stores today allow you to swipe one of these "gift" cards and completely extract the remaining balance from them, and then recalculate the amount still owed so that you can put the remainder on another CC. I've burned the final amounts off gift cards at Menards (a hardware store) and Krogers (a grocery store) this way.

Of course, if there is more on the card than required for the purchase at hand, they act just like any other card. Just stay away from gas purchases and restaurant purchases when using gift cards, since these tend to put rather sizable holds on the card, which may exceed its meager limit and result in it being rejected.

Thanks for the information and advice.

When I use the rebate AmEx card, I will make sure to use all to end up with $0 balance. Otherwise, AmEx will start imposing monthly fees until the balance drains to $0.
