Debian on Verbatim MediaShare Mini
September 06, 2016 12:49AM
Trying to get Debian to boot on Verbatim MediaShare Mini and I can't seem to get the Ethernet recognized. This uses a USI Topkick0281 board which should be a variation of the same board used in the TonidoPlug. See my entry @ wikidevi for complete hardware details. The board uses a Marvell 88F6281 A1 and does not appear to support kwboot as I've unsuccessfully tried multiple times. I've tried booting into a Debian 4.4 USB disk prepared with the kirkwood-pogo_e02.dts and the kirkwood-sheevaplug.dts which appear to be closest match to the features, but both result in unrecognized eth0.

Below is the u-boot log:

Any ideas on what to try in order get access to Ethernet?

Ray,

There is an editorial error on the wiki page. Does it have 2 ethenet ports? if yes, both should the same?

ETH chip1: Marvell 88F6281
ETH chip2: Marvell 88E1116R
LAN speed: 10/100/1000
LAN ports: 1

So you have opened it up and verified that it has 88E1116R?

And do you have GPL?

Please post the stock serial bootlog (all the way into the shell prompt).

Ray,

Try the Dockstar DTB.

No editorial error. See the entry for Seagate Dockstar for comparison. The Ethernet is provided by a combination of the 88F6281 and the 88E1116R PHY. All entries on the wiki page are confirmed by visual inspection of my unit.

Ah, that must be wikidev convention. But it is not normally stated that way. The bottom line is there is only 1 LAN chip. 6281 is the SoC.
