dockstar support now in official u-boot tree

Basic DockStar support was just accepted in the official u-boot tree and should be present in the next release.

What will that mean, exactly?
Would it mean that if it sees the dockstar ID, it will only install the correct version for that dockstar of stuff? Sounds good, whatever it means. :)

Developers who want to compile their own u-boot can now do so by git-cloning the official u-boot source, then adjusting the configuration and/or applying additional patches.

The initial version just does the following:
  • initializes the DockStar DRAM for 128M
  • supports the LEDs in a simple way
  • passes the DockStar machine ID to the Linux kernel on boot
Jeff's version has several additional capabilities:
  1. HUSH shell rather than simple CLI
  2. configurable LEDs rather than hard-coded
  3. support for other plug computers than just DockStar
Item (1) is just a #define in the config file. Item (2) might be accepted as a future patch. But (3) is problematic, because the u-boot code is geared towards a separate build per board type. It's unclear whether a multi-board version would be accepted.

Maybe someone could build this with Jeff's additional patches above? I have no suitable build box - that is unless I get the dockstar building a uboot on itself after installing debian.
