Re: Buffalo LS421DE Password for root via Serial Console/Reset root password/Boot Single User mode
January 24, 2017 06:32AM
Antonas,

I don't have the Buffalo LS421De, so cannot tell you a specific way to gain root. But in the past, I recall seeing posts that decribes a possible way to gain root for this box. May be you should try (google search gave this):
http://kuhnboy.blogspot.com/2014/08/gain-ssh-access-to-buffalo-linkstation.html

If all fails, you can try to boot with a kernel that is a close cousin for this box using the MVEBU rootfs I've just released:
http://forum.doozan.com/read.php?2,32146
and then mount the flash rootfs partition, modify the /etc/shadow file to remove root passwrod.

I changed PID this way.
this method does not suit me, do not work Ethernet after PID change. (see u-boot Log)

Maybe there is a possibility of such a decision? https://wrgms.com/entering-single-user-mode-on-a-synology/

Possibly. Try it.
