PICO-BOX 160W 24Pin DC ATX Switch

Has anyone used this PICO-BOX 160W 24Pin DC ATX Switch to power up a PC mobo using a 12 VDC car battery? I am think to invest on a good 12 VDC smart charger for a car battery (or even a solar power that has a smart inverter to monitor and charge the battery) and use this to supply power to my PC computer, instead of an existing (built-in) power supply + an external UPS.

Over 90% efficiency too, I know standard AC power supplies get expensive at 90% efficiency.

I think my Thin Client has one of those inside, which takes 12v DC and powers it. once in a blue moon it'll cut out, but that could be many factors.

Yeah Habibie, I can see myself getting one of those and an efficient 12vDC > 120vAC inverter as a backup. -edited- I mean to power laptop or Pogo or ThinClient from the wall voltage side of it in an emergency.

In fact, think about it, we may be qualified to get grants or whatever for renewable energy projects.
Not to take it off topic, but where would we go to find out if there's free energy lovin' from the Government?

IIRC, only a UPS under 200 Watts has a power factory (PF) of 0.85 and up. AFAICT, the bigger the UPS, the lower its PF. I believe those transformers on some utility poles outside on the streets are usually rated at a 0.7 PF.

The idea is to have all the lightweight electronic devices, i.e. HDMI LED TV, modem, router, TV Box, NAS, some LED light bulbs, etc., powered by a car battery. This way, they are protected from some electrical outages, burnouts, and/or probably direct lightning strikes, too.

With some google searches, I am sure you will have no problems to find some DIY projects to modify a combustion engine with hydrogen as fuel and attach a generator to produce free electrical power.

Then have one of these?. I'm amazed after searching a around, at the 100w solar panels and even Inverters from Lowes that can get over 3000 watts of AC power off a car battery. So I get what you're saying now habibie, but a car battery needs juice too.
