TBH, I have no idea. Just wanted to make sure you understand it is a 1-core system with 512 MB RAM.

It's a single-core ARMv7 1GHz. Not bad for US$ 15. The SDK has been released last year (with Linux kernel 3.18).

The only negative is 100Mbs Ethernet.

So it's really good low cost dekstop like the HP Thin Client T5325, i.e. not a server.

OTOH, it's a good media player box, when Kodi can be run with full capability.

Bodhi,

The sale had already ended for a while. I just hope some of you took the advantage of it.

Yes, I bought one for $15, just to see if I can find a way to bypass the secureboot and run Debian. Thanks!

Hello Bodhi,

From your above post on the release of a new Linux kernel, it sounded like you had found a way to bypass the secureboot and run Debian?

No, I have not opened it, so I don't know if it is possible.

The kernel is for the MVEBU boxes (Armada). But I also configured in the Berlin SoC in so that it also supports other boxes (such as the Sony NSZ-GS7 and the Chromecast, and Steam Link). It is purely experimental. I don't know yet if it will work for the Steam Link. According to one of our members, the Sony NSZ-GS7 secureboot can be bypassed.

As long as I can connect serial console to the Steam Link, I think I can find a way to bypass its secureboot.

I have not disassembled my Steamlink. But I did look the high-resolution pic, and could not find the serial pinouts anywhere!

Would be great if one of us will!

Wow .. Does anyone here know what data should be put in the /steamlink/config/system/enable_ssh.txt file on the USB memory stick?

Any data. Shouldn't be empty. Eg, "1" will work

You too, feas :) take a look at Gravelrash links. I don't see serial console pinouts anywhere!

Looking thru here to see if I can find something.

Could they be a surface mount type connection?

I'm not sure. Usually you'd see a Jxx marking for pintout or something like that. But I can't find it anywhere.

Some new boards have a built in serial console on USB. Older boards have Jxx marking next to 4 pins (solder buttons, holes, or actual header).
