Cool! It's funny, I just found a few pogo plugs in my basement I had with this setup. I think a few years ago I had a power outage and of course, the partitions crashed. I never fooled around with fixing them. I'd be interested to see what you come up with though. I wanted to get wheezy into read-only mode to keep it from that problemby ubermacin - Debian
Okay, I think I got it all running now. Just took a while, thanks again Bohdi!by ubermacin - uBoot
Hi Bodhi, thank you for your reply. I've started working through it and it's a nightmare so far. I see where on step 8 I missed that part. I thought the first part of the step 8 instructions were done when I verified the part "As described in step 1, u-boot envs must be defined in etc/fw_env.config as ..." step 8b then states : QuoteIf your u-boot envs is already defiby ubermacin - uBoot
Also strange, when I try to boot into arch I see in the net console: Unknown command 'setexpr' - try 'help' I see that in the bootcmd, and now I can't boot into arch now: [ 12.439090] scsi 0:0:0:0: Direct-Access SanDisk Cruzer Glide 1.27 PQ: 0 ANSI: 6 [ 12.448658] sd 0:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg0 type 0 [ 12.454289] sd 0:0:0:0: 31266816 512-byby ubermacin - uBoot
I have a pogoplug e02 running: U-Boot 2014.07-tld-2 (Sep 20 2014 - 00:52:18) Net console lags, when I type in ? it takes 30-45 seconds to display. In the serial console when booting it says: host x.x.x.x is alive Using egiga0 device Five times in a row (x of course redacted). Is that normal? Thank you Leggo! I really appreciate it, I can't believe I didn't think to try that. I'll report back EDIT: Uggg, no busy box. I did try tftp and it does respond despite not being listed: PogoE02> tftp -? No link on egiga0by ubermacin - uBoot
I'd like to upgrade to the newest u-boot image for my e02, but i'm a bit stuck. When I built my e02, i followed the instructions here: http://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv5/pogoplug-v2-pinkgray this evidently gave me a u-boot that doesn't have wget: version: U-Boot 2014.04.R3-1 (May 26 2014 - 19:45:55) Arch Linux ARM Pogo E02 gcc (GCC) 4.8.2 20131219 (prerelease) GNU ldby ubermacin - uBoot
Thank you all, this is awesome information! I didn't know about the different variants of flash memory. I figured the only difference between SD memory and USB stick memory was just the form factor. Would this hold true for micro sd too? I know SSDs are coming down in price, but I'm trying to stay under $40 for the pogo plug setup in it's entirety. I think I'm going to chby ubermacin - Debian
I've had a USB stick die on me from evidently too many write cycles. This led me down the path of trying to figure out what tweaks we can do to give my thumb drives a chance of lasting a few years. This thread: http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=8819&p=104096&hilit=cache_pressure#p104096 suggests this in /etc/sysctl.conf # Economize the SSD # Strongby ubermacin - Debian
I don't know how many folks know about (or might care about) running an airplay service on their plug. I have an E02 (Pink) pogoplug with wheezy installed and I stumbled on this tutorial for a pi:Raspberry Pi Airplay Tutorial. It was pretty close to what I needed to get started. I first purchased this Syba USB sound card for about $8.50 (price changes though). The tutorial above is veryby ubermacin - Debian
The newest 3.12.0-kirwood-tld-5 worked like a champ (once I got my bzip2 errors figured out LOL) on my E02. Here is how it played out (dunno if the errors are benign): root@debian:/tmp# apt-get remove flash-kernel Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... w00t! thanks nekitp! That was the problem! Unbelieveable, I spent at least an hour googling that issue and never seen anyone ask about that. For future fellow n00bs: apt-get install bzip2 This is a great board!by ubermacin - Debian
I'm attempting to download an install this kernel. I am at the root of my debian USB stick, made a backup of my boot folder, ran: wget --no-check-cert https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/2429qd7cckhi3z8/linux-3.12.0-kirkwood-tld-5-bodhi.tar.bz2 as you can see, it's present in the root directory: -rwxrwxrwx 1 root root 30057333 Jan 30 16:17 linux-3.12.0-kirkwood-tld-5-bodhiby ubermacin - Debian
Guess I was up too late, in the morning the fog cleared, I did a bit more googling and then it hit me. My mental model was that the fw_setenv is something in the OS, not on the uBoot image (in the NVRAM right?). Soooo, here is how I fixed it: cd /usr/sbin fw_setenv machid I also got my net console back up by killing the previous session (which I thought died) killall nc then re ranby ubermacin - Debian
Hi Millerdev and Bodhi, not to necropsy, but I have come to this same issue. Everything was working great except for the annoying orange LED. A quick google turned up the fw_setenv machid d66 and sure enough, just as here, it breaks my debian stick. My net console was working great until I accidentally closed the window and now can't seem to get it back up. The E02 plug boots just fine wby ubermacin - Debian
Thanks for all the advice bodhi! I'll get a Sandisk so I won't have this issue in the future.by ubermacin - Debian
