Thanks for your help ! I would prefer Jeff's solution. Could you give me a hint where to configure this ?by d1dd1 - Allwinner A10
Any news here ? I currently have a SATA SSD in my Mele A2000 and I would love to boot Linux from it, especially because I need the SD slot. I'm planning to take my A2000 with me on my holidays and use it as an automatic SD card backup machine (without display or any input device) So when a SD card is inserted, start an rsync job which pushes all new camera images on the SD card to the Sby d1dd1 - Allwinner A10
Thanks ! Works fine for me ! Great work !by d1dd1 - uBoot

We had a little offtopic discussion here: http://forum.doozan.com/read.php?2,3202,page=2 I also have a PPP with serial cable waiting for Debian :-) I got my SSD yesterday, will test if the PPP will recognize it.by d1dd1 - uBoot
The UBOOT sources are available here: http://www.pogoplug.com/home-en-developers-open-source.html (Or am I wrong ?) Would it be possible to build U-Boot with auto-SATA-boot with this ? ( Booting from SATA seems possible with a serial cable http://plugapps.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=554 )by d1dd1 - Debian
no, it's not possible yet :-( It's a armv7 2x750Mhz DualCore CPU It is possible to boot from SATA, but only with a serial cable atm http://plugapps.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=554by d1dd1 - Debian
I use TightVNC, works great. Thanks again !!! apt-get install tightvncserverby d1dd1 - Debian
I use a DIGISOL 47201 Cardreader with a CompactFlash card (8GB Sandisk Extreme IV ) No problems so far with cold / warm booting, but I had a filesystem crash after power failure once. Another question: What is the easiest way to make a full filesystem backup ? Is there a tool that creates an image or something like that ? Is an Online Backup (while running the system) possible or doby d1dd1 - Debian
Isn't shutdown -r the option to reboot ? Not sure if I'm right but I use shutdown -h now -h = halt which stops the CPU at the endby d1dd1 - Debian
I also had a filesystem failure before. Is a hdd safer than an USB-Stick or a CF-Card ? Thanksby d1dd1 - Debian
Can anyone explain how to configure a VNC server to use a virtual display (xvfb)? @petec Or did you found another solution ? I used this tutorial but wasn't successful, so I used freeNX http://streamboard.gmc.to/wiki/index.php/Seagate_Dockstar#Eine_Desktopoberfl.C3.A4che_installieren_und_per_VNC_darauf_connecten Is there a way to make this work automatically with every boot?by d1dd1 - Debian
Yes, I use it with filezilla as a GUI ftp-client with SSL / TLS support. Works great, but installation was a bit tricky. I used this tutorial (german, you could use google translator etc..) You need xvfb and freenx or a vnc server. http://streamboard.gmc.to/wiki/index.php/Seagate_Dockstar#Eine_Desktopverbindung.28XFCE4.29_.C3.BCber_FreeNX_herstellen Also XFCE4 works.
