I don't meant to contradict anyone, but I thought Don Charisma had a blowout on a SanDisk Fit, which is so tiny it pretty much fits IN the USB jack, and is hard to dig out without a little lanyard. The reason I bring that up, is I have three 16GB PNY USB 2.0 clones, that are on the slow side but get quite hot in a Pogoplug USB port. I wondered if it's just plain hot in there and a conveby JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Off-Topic
-edited heavily- As CUB Linux is now on its way, who knows the benefit of negotiating with Google. I fail to see "chromixium" as antagonist to Google like Iron browser is to Chrome, but here Google caches everything in the world that's got a copyright, they're into everyone's business, yet gets defensive over this? As an afterthought, on one hand we're dealing with Linux, an operating system with zero tolerance for an undotted i or an uncrossed t. And on the other hand, the read/write specs of storage medium is quite eccentric. If they say 70 MB/sec reads and you're only getting 17 MB/sec, and most of my sticks are 12 MB/sec reads tops... Put it this way, in the world of USB sticks and Sby JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Off-Topic
It possibly would have been much better, but I have no bank account linked to my PayPal account as of two years, one heart failure and one heart attack earlier (said my cardiologist). I can't stress that enough. Address confirmation they call it. I've lived here at the same address for 25 years and no it's not about proving you live here, and other than student loans I have no credby JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Off-Topic
I mentioned that to the manager at Best Buy today thought it to be quite a clever idea. I've had an incomplete thought developing, to have a separate USB stick for swap, label it SWAP and let that be hammered into oblivion. To that end, if I were to switch over to SD cards/adapter, I'd have plenty of 8GB sticks for re purposing. What cool little computers though, I can't get ovby JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Off-Topic
At our old haunt Adorama they have a WD My Passport Ultra 2TB USB 3.0 for $72.99. I'm glad to report my local Best Buy matched the price, and yours might too.* I've still got to rub more pennies together for another 2TB (next one internal 3.5") because stakes keep getting higher when most of my eggs are in one basket, but things seem to be looking up. And yes, I know my Pogoby JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Off-Topic
There are some really neat processor/motherboard/video combos for $60 and $80 lately, whether AMD or Intel Celeron, with quad core processors. Just add Power supply, many kinds of RAM up to 16 GB and a hard drive and it's pretty done. I'll definitly swoop soon and put the Debian skills learned here to good use. But I'm not even sure at this point. The reason, Docker seems to beby JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Debian
Almaz, I hope my experience at your uploadex.com page was a false positive, but some scary popups appeared, at first telling me I don't have Flash installed, and to call a telephone number for help, but I have a feeling if I had Flash installed it would have boa constrictor-ed my ThinClient to death.by JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Debian
Yeah me too. I'm missing out on the best deals right now because of that "confirmed address" stipulation the lowest price dealers require. I've lived at the same address 25 years. Couple years ago I had a Credit Union account and they'd call every other day "did you order something from England" "Yes" "Germany?" "Yes" But they'by JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Allwinner A10
Congratulations twinclouds! You've got the coolest toy in the neighborhood. Looks sold out last I checked. I bet there IS a lot of pilot error that goes into bad reviews. I can only relate to routers, how common it is for them to look up a conflicting IP at the modem. And you check reviews for most routers, there are always extremely irate people who say "four in a row didn't workby JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Allwinner A10
That adapter looks neat Gravelrash, another something to try on my next ebay mission. I'm probably nutz for asking, but do you set an OS to operate read-only using a secure card? I only ask because I've heard of read-only OS's but it's beyond my skill set. @ habibie attached is a screenshot of the link you provided. Do you mean Pogoplug v4? I'm not aware if other Pogplugs have a card slot like that, although v3 Pro has a wireless mPCIe that an adapter would fit, but you shouldn't be able to boot from it. I too wonder, not only this one, but seems to me bodhi mentioned some SanDisk 64GB (don't know if that's USB-only) have the same wear leveling controller as SSDs. Begs a lot of questioby JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Off-Topic
Some of those adapters are made in order to have USB pluggability on the ends and use the excellent CAT5(e+) cabling to go long stretches, but that's a lot of great food for thought. I'm also amazed at how people can solder up such tiny connectors. Seems like every cool electronics board has unused SATA dots on the circuit boards, but I'm not up to speed what solder irons thoseby JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Off-Topic
That's a thought. Still, $2.50 shipped here in the States is a great deal too. Gigabit/USB3-hub versions for $12 here too. What's beyond me is why they don't have it in reverse: female USB for your storage to plug in, plug the RJ45 into router, instant NAS on any router. Maybe a power supply in case USB needs it. Why not? WHY NOT? Oh well, even so now it's too late, Iby JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Off-Topic
I'm trying to wrap my head around that still, but am having a nice laugh learning about things like an oinkcode or oinkmaster.conf; dang! Uhm... by chance would this also work on XAMPP and not just LAMP? I was going to load XAMP on Pogo 4 just to indulge some Wordpress learning. * Gravelrash, last time you mentioned a 10MB hub for snort I was just leaving to go to Goodwill, where theyby JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Off-Topic

I've done basic research half the day today, and remember the cheap SimpleTech-2TB esata RAID box? There's some hilarious reviews at Amazon. What I'm seeing is, a lot of these controllers with a hard drive attached still have painfully low transfer speeds regardless if it's eSATA or USB. I'm hard pressed to identify what that is. Man, bodhi you go the extra mile i have to say that, thank you kindly sir. *Newsflash, that little tablet sold out. I kick myself for not jumping on that one, but the Winter isn't over yet. The price was right, but the batteries probably sat there 2-3 years too.by JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Off-Topic

New Egg's policy of "address confirmation" has nothing to do with my stable address of decades, but it's about PayPal being linked to a bank/credit union account. Last year I made probably 12 little orders from NewEgg and loved it, but the policy changed at the wrong time. So my goods has to be from a place without that. Nice choices gents, yeah that little KitKat quadcore is something a neighbor kid had a couple years ago and it's pretty amazing what that will do. He could get wireless I couldn't and Id leave a home computer network share through my wireless for that family. If the powers that be ever get a quadcore gigabit CocanutCreamPi together I have a feeling that's the media center to have. They're close at the moment. But the bottleneck margins of Pogoplug are so close (meaning the recent overclock had one member not seeing ANY increase in SATA/USB 3.0 performance) I can't see transcoding happening with one. Thanks for that resource. I'm glad they address potential bottlenecks to avoid, such as some devices sharing internal bandwidth, such as: QuoteThis is particularly true of systems such as the Raspberry Pi which share USB bandwidth with the Ethernet port. My DISH receiver is bought, not rented. Supposedly mine according to a receipt. From Dish's perspective, they offer a $40 DVR "feature" where they activate your ability to record their movies on your external hard drive which is plugged into a USB slot in the back. There's also a handy RJ45 receptacle on the back and I've gotten it to at least respond to PuTTY. Thatby JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Off-Topic
Yeah and no contents were secure because the HP xb3000 Notebook Expansion Base was directly (I assume) hooked to the laptop. Excellent resources. I'm having a fundraiser to get one of those dual cases, a 2TB HDD and some desktop RAM, cables from the orient. You might wonder why I'm using the slowest, cheapest USB stick - I needed to acquire a one-piece 8GB disk image, and my usual SanDisk is 8GB minus the OS and the cheap stick is 16GB. So once the image came in, I thought the only hardship was the average 2MB/sec copying speed to the router's 1 TB drive, it still took over a day to get it on a slow line, so made the decision to pound thatby JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Off-Topic
Wish i could find a supplier for that part linked above then. I notice most everything else that seller has is three times the price I'm used to seeing, yet that particular part is the lowest price of four I can find at all.
