Correct. So fw_ennv cannot be used, unless we go further and make it appear there is an mtd0 and mtd1 on SATA (this u-boot does not use mtd2). This will not be worth the trouble (because you already have a work around).<br />
<br />
So the problem is the params being passed from u-boot to kernel seems to be ignored by OpenWrt. This params is a block of memory that the kernel has access to. It usually has MAC address, memory size, and other info.<br />

I see. Unfortunately I don&#039;t have much experience with OpenWrt so cannot tell what&#039;s wrong right away. The u-boot you have on the HDD is basically the same as mine (shv built it using the source from my GitHub) so I don&#039;t think it is u-boot problem.<br />

For now, you can work around this by specifying the MAC address inside /etc/network/interfaces.<br />

You are doing it the wrong way! <br />
<br />
We don&#039;t use bootargs inside the DTS.  The bootargs should come from the env passed in by u-boot in the commandline.<br />
<br />
We are loading DTB from u-boot. And that combines with the bootargs env when the kernel starts. The commandline bootargs must take precedent so that the kernel knows where the rootfs is (i.e. using root=LABEL=rootfs).<br />
<br />
Also, the DTS has the bootarg defined to sda2, which does not work in all scenarios. You are basically tied to that and never be able to move your rootfs to a 3rd, 4rd partition, or connecting an eSATA enclosure.<br />

Just regenerate the uImage without the DTB appended to it, and make sure the bootargs is defined in u-boot envs.]]></description>
