Copied USB stick does not boot correctly

Startingpoint is the latest U-boot for OXNAS. Using a pogoplug pro (so hardware does not change). I have a perfectly working USB which I would like to copy/archive.

So I used the suggested procedure as attached (create archive)... But I still don't understand (and I would like to understand that) why the copied stick is not booting.

You probably did not label the copied stick partition with rootfs.

Bodhi,

If you check the log of the copied stick, you see that it is finding the usb stick and the boot directory. I even checked the label before I started my copy action via e2label /dev/sdb? which resulted in rootfs as a label.

Nevertheless I tried another approach where I copied the original to the copy USB via Midnight commander, while booting from a 3rd usb stick. That resolved my problem.

I recently had your above issue as well when trying to create a tarball. Nothing I tried worked. I ended up using the copy method as you describe.

As usual, I need to see the log of what a user did during rootfs creation to spot any error. Sometime we forgot to be root (must be root user the whole time), sometime we did not sync, ... Things like that would cause the rootfs label problem.
