Install of Package failed. How do I clean up?

Hello,

I did a apt-get upgrade

The result was
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
The following packages will be upgraded:
  apt libavahi-client3 libavahi-common-data libavahi-common3 libcups2 libdb4.8
  libldap-2.4-2 liblzma2 libsasl2-2 libssl0.9.8 linux-image-2.6.32-5-kirkwood
  tzdata xz-utils

After a while, I got:
Unpacking replacement linux-image-2.6.32-5-kirkwood ...
dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/linux-image-2.6.32-5-kirkwood_2.6 .32-21em1_armel.deb (--unpack):
failed in write on buffer copy for backend dpkg-deb during `./lib/modules/2.6.3 2-5-kirkwood/kernel/fs/xfs/xfs.ko': No space left on device

I don't really need this update, I suppose. But how do I clean up the "mess"?
The disk is now >90% full, whereas before it was around 80% (I'm using the NAND install).

Regards,
Hendrik

I suggest moving /var/cache/apt and /var/cache/lib to a USB disk, and making symlinks to them. Then rerun "apt-get upgrade".

Hello Hendrik,

try
apt-get clean

If a package is installed, you can remove it with

apt-get remove packagename

Hi,

thanks for your replys.

apt-get clean did not improve the free space.
Can I savely do a apt-get remove linux-image-2.6.32-5-kirkwood ?

@ecc: I'll do that. Just need to get a HDD with ext3 (it's currently vfat).

Regards,
Hendrik
