Hi guys, hoping someone could help me out with this issue..
I bought one of
these
ID 148f:3072 Ralink Technology, Corp. RT3072 Wireless Adapter
because I thought it would work out of the box with the gorgone install, and it did, just not at 300mbps, so my quest begins
the device was recognized off the bat but didn't seem to be totally functional, so I replaced the rt2870 firmware with the one available on the ralink website then I followed these directions:
http://wiki.debian.org/rt2870sta#Squeeze
and even added this to my blacklist
blacklist rt2800usb
blacklist rt73usb
blacklist rt2570
blacklist rt2500usb
blacklist rt2×00lib
blacklist rt2x00
blacklist rt2x00-legacy
blacklist rt2500
blacklist rt2500usb
but now when I try to do ifconfig wlan0 up it does alot of crazy scrolling in terminal and never allows me to connect.
Here is dmesg | grep -e rt2 -e rt3
root@debian:~# dmesg | grep -e rt2 -e rt3
rt2870sta: module is from the staging directory, the quality is unknown, you have been warned.
usbcore: registered new interface driver rt2870
<==== rt28xx_init, Status=0
and
root@debian:~# lsmod | grep -e rt2 -e rt3
rt2870sta 418155 0
So it seems that I've killed off all the other drivers, but my version of rt2870sta is some how not working so I'm assuming I just somehow need to figure out what the best driver is (I'm guessing it probably involves building the one provided by ralink, and then determining which drivers I need to blacklist. All help is appreciated!
