If I pop open my dockstar and connect a scope between, say, TXD and GND, what should I expect to see? A signal that is most of the time around 3v and then it drops when it is doing something or what? What about RXD and GND?

TXD will be transmitting at these settings:
Speed: 115200
Data bits: 8
Stop bits: 1
Parity: none
Flow control: none
So the scope will plot the ASCII output of the serial console from uboot/linux kernel between 3.3V and GND accordingly.
