May 02, 2011 04:07PM
Hi@all,

i bought from Conrad a USB2VGA Adapter (Manhattan HI-SPEED USB 2.0 SVGA CONVERTER)

lsusb shows this:
Bus 001 Device 005: ID 0711:5100 Magic Control Technology Corp.

i tried several things to recompile the sisusbvga.ko and nothing happens.... No Light after plugin the adapter in the usb port.

any ideas to get this working ?

do you think maybe a powered hub would help? do you get correct output from 'dmesg' ? does the 'insmod' show any error?

dmesg show this, but there´s no light on my dongle, i tried also a usb powered hub.

I think this adapter is not supported with the patch ...

i brought the adapter card back, and now i have gift coupon with 39€ ..

i´m thinking about a new card, this one:
http://www.conrad.de/ce/de/product/870737/EXTERNE-USB-GRAFIKKARTE-USB-AUF-DVIVGA/0414053&ref=list

i´m reading the manual and there was a displaylink driver in the PDF, hhmm
My question was: If this working can i watch video streams? (need for input X11 Boblight / Atmolight)
What i want to do with the Dockstar:

Compile Mythtv 0.21 Backend with Frontend (emulate xvfb) -> streaming works to my other Frontend
Compile Boblight/atmolight -> works but light´s changing like a diashow in xvfb
My Video Source is a DBOX2 and the Dockstar is the Backend for Recordings and Atmolight.

anyone with ideas ?

This is a rather old post and I have no fix for the Manhattan HI-SPEED USB 2.0 SVGA CONVERTER (though I own it) however I have some info about this piece of hardware :

As mentionned earlier, it is recognized as Bus 001 Device 005: ID 0711:5100 Magic Control Technology Corp.

It has many siblings (ID 0711:5100) : Tritton XD300, Startech USB2VGAE2, MCT UVGA-A8201, UVT-100A1 and probably others.

It is said to work on the MAX distro (Madrid Unix) with the max-multiseat package. The package is here but it's not an ARM package. Maintainer can be found here. This might be a start for running the converter on the Dockstar but that's far beyond my current knowledge of Linux and compiles.

The Manhattan embarks the following chips :
- MCT Trigger UV-185FB-128 (couldn't finch much info about this chip)
- EtronTech EM6A9320BI-5MG (128 Mo DDR SDRAM)

There are some discussions around this piece of hardware :
