Targus ACP50US Universal Dock with Video

Targus ACP50US Universal Dock with Video is a USB notebook docking station with several USB devices available using one USB cable from the dockstar. It can be found online for a reasonable price. It comes with a beefy 3A power adapter.

USB serial adapter requires MCT-232 driver - this is unfortunately not in the dockstar (or Gorgone's) kernel.

Audio, Video (USB2VGA 1024x768) and 4-port USB2 powered hub are auto-detected and seem to work well. Video is usable for occasional use but not comparable with modern Displaylink devices.

Network is auto-detected but I haven't tested it. It looks like gigabit speed.

Overall @ ~$30 its not a bad choice if you have a spare monitor/keyboard, want to add ports, power USB speakers/gadgets or kvm switch your dockstar.

FYI - I notice these can be found for < $10 (+$5 ship) on ebay nowadays. Handy if you have the space and want a powered hub + VGAOUT + extra ethernet + audio + serial etc.

Thanks guys. Got one on ebay. I plan to install mr house X10 firecracker on serial port. (once I fix my wifi issue) I will keep you posted/ask you questions ;-)

I have been busy doing other stuff. I will not be working on my dockstar for a some time. Any way, I am more interested in audio and serial hardware on this device. I do not plan to connect any monitor. At the most, I may run some VNC/NX but not a display directly connected to the device.
