Terramaster F2-NAS2
February 19, 2026 07:43AM
Hello, everyone, I am new here.
I am trying to install Debian on Terramaster F2-NAS2. I tried asking ChatLieT for help, but it gave me more problems than solutions, and the links it provided were always broken.
One it gave me was from Bohdi. I didn't know who that was until I found this forum. Greetings and thanks for everything.
He gave me many from one site, I think it was NAS central or something like that. Looking through my email, I saw that I was registered, but unfortunately it no longer exists.
According to ChatLieT, my only chance to run Debian on my hardware is with a legacy kirkwood kernel with an old U-boot and a DTB specific to my hardware.
The truth is that I have no idea what to do. My knowledge of these devices is very limited.
I've tried several times with some old kernels as suggested by the AI and with DTB compatible with my processor, but it always fails to boot with the error “invalid DTB and unrecognized/unsupported machine ID”.
Let's see if anyone can shed some light on my problem, as I can't see a way out :/
Thank you very much, best regards.
P.D: My apologies, I didn't say which files I was using: "Debian-5.6.7-kirkwood-tld-1-rootfs-bodhi.tar.bz2" I used the kernel recommended by Bodhi for a device that, according to ChatLieT, is similar to mine, with the same processor, etc., since I couldn't find any mention of my device online.
P.D2: The commands I run are:
usb start
setenv bootargs console=ttyS0,115200 root=/dev/sda1 rw rootdelay=10
ext2load usb 0:1 0x800000 /boot/uImage
ext2load usb 0:1 0x2100000 /boot/uInitrd
bootm 0x800000 0x2100000

Glad for this is one of the instances AI gives good result :) I think the old Google search would yield better results for emmbeded Linux devices. And welcome to the forum!

See here this Wiki thread for how to run new Debian kernel with old stock u-boot:

Boot Kirkwood rootfs with stock u-boot
https://forum.doozan.com/read.php?2,139998

Basically, you did not do Step 4. It is required for old stock u-boot. The DTB needs to be appended to the kernel image.

4. (Stock u-boot only) Create uImage with embedded DTB for booting with older u-boots (2012 or earlier). Skip this step if you have installed the latest U-Boot for Kirkwood (or are installing this u-boot at the same time, or running kwboot with latest u-boot image).
