Did 137 file upgrade using Webmin on Pogov4, now cannot login

Hello Bodhi and Crew:

After a recent downtime, where I had my upgraded-to-Debian-Strech Pogo V4, with Webmin 1.67(?), unplugged I plugged it in again and logged in.

I had Debian Linux 9.0 (Stretch, upgraded dist from Jessie, upgraded from 3.14 from Qui's instructional from blog.qnology.com) I went into my http://POGO:10000 port and logged into WEBMIN, and it told me I had about 138 updates to do.

So, I went and did the 138 updates from Webmin. Bad move, I guess. Now I can't get in.

Even though my router says it's picking up a IP Address from DHCP, the only thing it does is 1 measly UDP connection, and it's refusing any connections whatsoever if I try to SSH into it on port :22 using Putty.

I may just have to blank out the SD card, and start all over again. I just want to know, if there's a way I can get this to work without blanking the card and starting all over again!

Any ideas?

Kapt,

Doing 138 updates behind the scene (i.e. Webmin) indeed not recommended! when you do a dist-upgrade. And the rule-of-thumb is make a system backup first before dist-upgrade!

This sounds like your u-boot has started and tried to start the kernel. But rootfs has not completed starting.

Mount this SD card on another Linux box and try each step:

- Look at Webmin log, there might be error during dist-upgrade
- fsck this rootfs, there might be system error.
- Look at the kernel files in /boot, see if anything is missing (if the SD is mounted at sdb1):
ls -latr /media/sdb1/boot

thanks Bodhi, will check it out in the morning, and let you know.

BTW: Grayman4hire on this board = Qui from blog.qnology.com? If so, I need to donate a cuppa coffee to him.
and of course, when I get this working again, a cuppa coffee to you at your board. Thanks again, Bodhi
