Pogo V3 installation problem
October 31, 2017 08:01PM
I followed the steps following...
"4. Create uImage with embedded DTB for booting with stock u-boot."
updating for the October 2017 release...Without any luck.

I have a Pogo-P21 without an internal wifi antenna. So I concatenated with "pogoplug-classic".
Did the resulting uImage contain all components necessary to boot the fresh ext3 stick?

Am I missing something obvious...I hope so...

I could use a little help...thanks

Mike,

Do you have serial console? Post the entire boot log here if you do.

Serial console? Boot Log? Not yet. This is where learning curve starts heading skyward. I'll start with the "HowtoForge"
"serial console" tutorial. But it may take a while before I am successful. I'll let you know of my process. Meanwhile let me restate the question...
-----------------
Am I correct in understanding that if I follow the installation steps 1 thru 5 (upgraded for the Oct 2017 release) and placed on a fresh 4gig Ext3 stick (rootfs/boot/uImage) in the front usb port of the Pogo-P21, that the Pogo-P21's firmware should boot off and run from the OS on this stick?

Also that evidence of success would be that the Pogo-P21 is restored as a 3 Usb Port NAS Server?
-----------------
Thanks for this clarification...while I learn to create and use a Serial Console.

Mike,

We have a Wiki thread, where you can learn about serial console:

That's not the only installation needed to run Debian on this box. You will need to install both Debian and u-boot.

Debian:

U-boot:
https://forum.doozan.com/read.php?3,16017

In the old days, it is entirely possible to run stock u-boot with Debian on a USB drive. However, there are different installation steps in doing that, which requires you to change u-boot envs.

I don't keep track of information need to run this configuration (stock u-boot + Debian) anymore.

A question, if I might, about the Uboot requirements...
Can it be loaded in a stock Pogo-21 without Ssh enabled.
This unit was registered per the mypogoplug.com website to a previous unknown owner.
The pogo website (Oct 2017) offered me no additional options (re Ssh, etc.).

If I .... ssh 192.168.2.2 (the Pogo-21's IP address)... I get ...
ssh: connect to host 192.168.2.2 port 22: Connection refused

Is it possible to load Uboot in this situation...

Another lead or pointer would be helpful getting me back on track...If possible...Thanks Again.

Its obvious you and others have done some great work...I hope to learn and benefit from it.

Without SSH enabled, the only way to flash new u-boot is to connect serial console.
