dpkg error with Linux Kernel 5.4.179 Oxnas (OX820) Pogo V3 package

Hey, I'm really happy to see continued development for these awesome little devices. I first learned about this place about 7 years ago and enjoyed setting up a couple of Pogoplugs as network shares. Then life happened and they were eventually boxed up and shelved for a few years.

I dusted one of them off today and it started up as if they were online just yesterday! I ended up needing to update the uBoot because I wanted netconsole and that worked out well as far as I can tell.

Now, I'm trying to update the kernel but I'm stuck at step 4:

Linux Black 4.4.38-oxnas-tld-5 #1 SMP PREEMPT Sun Dec 11 17:32:48 PST 2016 armv6l

Am I missing something obvious here? I feel like I am.

Nothing obviously wrong. What Debian version are you at?
cat /etc/debian_version
If it is too old, try upgrading Debian first.

Thanks for the reply. It was on 7.11, wow.

I prepared a fresh USB drive with Debian-4.14.180-oxnas-tld-1-rootfs-bodhi.tar.bz2 and upgraded the kernel with linux-5.4.179-oxnas-tld-1.bodhi.tar.bz2

I remember now that the only issue I had with these devices (to use as network shares) was the lack of an RTC. I also remember that a workaround would be to prioritize NTP in the boot process with a static IP so I'll be exploring either that or adding in a hardware RTC.

The maker space/community is far more established today than it was 7 years ago so I'm expecting a hardware RTC shouldn't cost more than a dollar or two — hopefully.

Thanks again bodhi, you're a legend!

Cool!

Also, you can use fake-hwclock package instead.
