Use USB powered HDD on Dockstar?

I notice the price of the USB powered drives have came down in price a lot and is thinking about getting one for my Dockstar as a data storage device. Are they as reliable as the 3.5" drive?

Hi funtoy,

Yes, they are as reliable. However, because they are portable, so we tend to move them too much (i.e. more chance for breakage). If you get one, don't use it as a boot drive. Boot with USB and use it as data drive so you can let it sleep most of the time. My Seagate GoFlex 2.5" are still going strong since I got them 4,5 years ago. The later model (Seagate Backup Plus) drives are not as reliable.
