PogoPlug V3 / POGO-P21 vs. SATA
October 03, 2015 12:12AM
According to this old post, a PogoPlug V3 / POGO-P21 does have a built-in SATA port, but its throughput performance is par with the USB using Samba on a Debian ARM OS. This definitely doesn't look very appealing to me. So, can anyone who owns a PogoPlug V3 / POGO-P21 please confirm this?

I don't think it is true. All these V3 boxes SATA works exactly the same way as the Pogo Pro. This has been proven somewhere in this forum.

Hello Bodhi,

Thank you for your clarification.

this is also not fully correct.

I've seen some Pogo E02 labeled as Pogo Pro (both labeled "P24" on bottom) and this is the Kirkwood version without S-ATA
Only the V3 (pogoplug BIZ. labeled as pogoplug PRO on bottom ) has S-ATA

All V3 has SATA. E02 does not have SATA. So make sure you don't get a mis-labeled E02 if you want SATA.

One of the posts bodhi was referring to Pogoplug version benchmarks

LeggoMyEggo,

Thank Leggo. Good to see you posting again :) I should collect these benchmarks and add links to the Tips thread. shv also did some testing but I don't have that link.

Sorry to bring this back. From the above remarks, a PogoPlug Biz is also a PogoPlug V3 and thus has a SATA port, right?

Yes it is. Juts make sure you dont get the V3 version that has video (fire hazard recall).

All of my Pogoplug Biz's are white case with black shoe base. And they all have the Pro MB with SATA and mini pci e wireless. I don't ever recall seeing a E02 with a case with that color scheme.

Re: Pogoplug Video - it's the only one with a case like E02 or Classic that DID NOT have a built-in power supply. It included a wall wart supplying 12 volts through a cord with 5.5mm x 2.1mm barrel connector on the end. What made it so dangerous, the video processing card placed in the mini pci-e slot got uber hot which was not aided by the passive cooling so the heat tended to melt all the plastic wiring insulation inside the case and eventually caused shorts, smoke and fire.
