Pogo V3 (Oxnas OX820) power off

Pogo V3 (Oxnas OX820) power off
October 25, 2015 08:13AM
a view weeks ago I owned a Pogo v3.
All seems working fine:

- updating U-Boot
- installing Debian 3.17 rootfs
- updating to kernel 4.1
- upgrading to Debian Jessie

I've recognized the following:
On Debien Jessie, the LED doesn't go off.
There is also something in the log shows that the second core doesn't gets off (only on Debian Jessie).

So I decided to test it again (Wheezy vs. Jessie).
Now I'm using an USB Stick with LED to check whe status of it and I'm locking at the LAN LEDs
I also check the power consumption.

let's see:

Debien Wheezy (Kernel 3.17 and 4.1)

- idle / load: 3,3 W / 4,3 W
- LED: on, usb stick LED: on and blinking while read / write, LAN LED (green): on

at power off:
- "power down" on serial console
- LED: off
- usb stick LED: on
- LAN LED (green): on
- 3.5 W power consumption

Debian Jessie (kernel 4.1)

- idle / load: 3,3 W / 4,3 W
- LED on, usb stick LED on and blinking while read / write, LAN LED (green) on

at power off:

- one core doesn't get off
- LED: on
- usb stick LED: on
- LAN LED (green): on
- 3,5 W power consumtion

Any ideas how to fix this?

pengu,

I'm running Jessie and kernel 4.1 on Pogo Pro, no such problems. Are you running systemd or sysvinit?

after upgrading from Debian Wheezy to Debian Jessie, I'm running systemd.
Perhaps I should switch to sysvinit?

pengu,

It does not hurt to try and see if you get the box to run the same as everybody else does. You can switch between init system quite easily (put the custom parameter inside /boot/uEnv.txt)

I'm having the same problem since I upgraded from Wheezy to Jessie in debian. I guess during upgrade it messed up something else. Didn't try netconsole but I'm still running old uboot. Did you solve the problem and how?

sorry for the long delay
I'll see whats going on switching to sysvinit
perhaps this helps
but as I found out earlier, its the same in wheezy.
The only difference is that the LED goes off
So I thought that it was completely off

There has been some poweroff trouble quite some time. At least my device (Akitio Mycloud mini) has had this issue with even patch made by Daniel Golle in kernel version 3.18.

So, I suppose this is kernel trouble more than one of Debian.

This is not related to the kernel. I dont have this problem. You should run sysvinit. And go from there.

Update: I saw you're talking about a different box. So please ignore this post :)

It occured to me that this box might have a power button, while the Pogoplugs do not. Is that true? If you can find the GPL source for it, I could help taking a look for power off.

Also, the RTC problem can be solved in u-boot without changing the kernel. BTW, I'm about to release the 2015.10 u-boot for OX820.
