Problem booting Zyxel NSA325

hey guys,

it's me once again. sorry, but i need some advice. i am on the newest uboot, provided here

U-Boot 2016.05-tld-1 (Jun 12 2016 - 13:48:40 -0700)
ZyXEL NSA325 2-Bay Power Media Server

for the install procedure i used an other system, not the target NSA325.

i placed the Debian-4.4.0-kirkwood-tld-1-rootfs-bodhi.tar.bz2 on a target usbstick (to boot the NSA from) formated as ext4 and labeled as rootfs. i proceeded as described in the install tutorial and wannted to use the (4b) option for booting with dtb file embedded in the kernel image.

to optain initramfs-4.6.0-kirkwood-tld-1 and initrd.img-4.6.0-kirkwood-tld-1 i ran the following commands on rasperry pi.

and proceeded along the description.

You did not do the installation the correct way. It should be:

1. On the rPi. Create rootfs Debian-4.4.0-kirkwood-tld-1-rootfs-bodhi.tar.bz2 on a single Ext3 USB partiton. And you could choose to append the DTB righ here.
2. Boot the NSA325 with it.
3. Afer booting in to NSA325. In Debian, install kernel 4.6.0-kirkwood-tld-1

And making it more complicated, while installing 2016.05-tld-1, you did not flash the new default envs.

So I would do the 3 steps above. And then

a. Update the u-boot envs with default envs image. Adjust it to some envs to the specific of your environment (see instruction).
b. Make sure you boot this Ext3 USB rootfs a few times.
c. In Debian prepare the SATA rootfs for booting. At this point you can start using Ext4.
