I seem to have received a faulty hp t5325 with bad flash.
The unit won't boot and reports kernel panic and errors in squashfs.
I tried flashing the latest official software from the hp, it installs without errors but again errors pop up.
Sometimes the unit boots fine but shortly afterwards it freezes.
Is there any way I can salvage it while I wait for another one to be sent?

You can boot with kwboot using another Linux box. And then boot the Debian-4.12.1-kirkwood-tld-1-rootfs-bodhi.tar.bz2 rootfs on USB:

I read about kwboot and I have a Linux laptop so I believe I can just install u-boot-tools and get kwboot binary without the need to search for precompiled binaries.

I tried to boot latest debian rootfs using hp uboot as described here http://forum.doozan.com/read.php?2,25473,26166#msg-26166 but booting gets stuck at

You should boot with kwboot like you did before:
And then, interupt serial console, get the listing of envs
Please post the entire serial console log here.
Depending what the log show, a few more envs will need to be adjusted to boot into the new rootfs on USB. Like you have done before during installing new u-boot in this post:

No, you don't want to interrupt kwboot. After it is loaded and booting, interrupt at the countdown.

No, you don't want to interrupt kwboot. After it is loaded and booting, interrupt at the countdown.
