Installation: Lenny works, Squeeze fails

Installation: Lenny works, Squeeze fails
January 30, 2011 03:21AM
Hi,

I can't install Debian Squeeze with Jeff's Squeeze Installation Script. After some power-off tries, it boots, but I can't reach it. The LED shines green. Ping/SSH are down. I tried it three times, but nothing happens.

The Lenny Installation Script works fine and after that I can upgrade it to Squeeze.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Regards,
Christian

Update: I've tested >10 USB-Sticks and USB-HDD's, some of them are working and booting, but only with Lenny. With Squeeze, the Kernel is loaded, but nothing happens...

I think I've found the reason: The two "/usr/bin/mkimage" lines from the installer don't work at my Dockstar's. I don't know why, but the solution is really simple :-)

mount proc /mnt/proc -t proc
mount sysfs /mnt/sys -t sysfs

chroot /mnt /usr/sbin/flash-kernel 2.6.32-5-kirkwood

In my example the new Debian-System is mounted to /mnt. After that reboot your Dockstar into your new Debian-System. Now it works without any problems.
