Debian on NSA221

OK, I've dug all over the forum as well as the internet and can't find any info on whether anyone has ever tried to get Debian or anything else running on the older Zyzel NSA221. Is this doable? I've successfully done this on Buffalo NAS's, my Zyxel NSA310 and NSA320 units but I can't see any info on the NSA221, hence the question.

Looks pretty close to the NSA320 device. Can this be done or is the CPU too different from anything else to be workable?

I decided I'd get you as much as I could about the NSA320. This has your u-boot installed as well as your 4.2.0 Kernel on it as well. Works beautifully (much thanks)! I have the cpuinfo, the meminfo, the mtd info, the dmesg output, and a copy of the /boot partion. Sorry for the overload, I figure more info is better than less.

IIRC, unlike the Pogo V3 OX820 SoC, this OXNAS SoC was in mainline. Not sure how completed it is, but let's see if I can look back a bit and find some info.

This SoC is OX810SE. It has mainline support, but it is incompleted (I did not see USB and SATA driver). The current OXNAS kernel we have is for another CPU architecture so I don't think it will work for this box.

All we can do is waiting for Linux mainline OX810SE and OX820 OXNAS kernel. There was talk about porting USB and SATA to this kernel, but so far nothing has come out of that.

Well crud. I was afraid there was going to be some reason this wasn't done. As old as this CPU is, with better CPU's already on the market for years, I suspect there isn't much desire to do anything with it.

There is an effort going on in mainline. But it is quite slow. I suspect that since Oxford Semi was acquired, all their SoCs might have been EOL, not just these 2.

I did build a new kernel that run quite well for the Pogo V3 OX820, but with no disk drive. So I am stuck at kernel 4.4.x, because I don't have enough free time to try the porting.

Any chance anymore work has been done on this one? I have a NSA221 that is no longer accessible in Windows 10 due to SMBv1 being disabled. I can re-enable it; however I would much prefer to have SMBv2 or v3 as v1 (obviously) is not secure...
