Use original pogoplug software with Debian
July 14, 2011 04:51PM
Dear all,

installed Debian with vdr on my pogoplug following the instructions here. Everything works great! I can use the system to make TV recordings with vdr.

However, I would love to use the pogoplug service as well. Is there a way to run the pogoplug software within my debian install to have filesharing and vdr at the same time?

Regards,
Alex

I dont think so, but you can enable other forms of file sharing with nfs, ftp, samba, http, upnp. It depends on what the consumer is.
Thank you very much although that did not answer my question: I am fully aware that I can install samba, nfs etc. But my question was _specificially_ around the PogoPlug software.

Do you know for a fact that it will not be possible or is this just a guess? Anybody knows for sure?

Hi,

I've encountered the same challange with my Pogoplyg E-02 that i recently received.
Finally i got it working using the following two articels:

Installation of Debian Squeeze:
activate USB boot
http://projects.doozan.com/uboot/

Installation
http://projects.doozan.com/debian/

Installation and activation of Pogoplug services:
http://archlinuxarm.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2895

After following the above procedures you heave to restart the device after every step!

The device will show up as Debian on the Pogoplug site

Good luck nd if you have any questions please let me know
