I could compile without any patches, too. But I couldn't test my kernel, yet. So I'm not 100% sure if it's absolutely alright.

2.6.37 installed using instructions on first post and now I have a flashing green light that resembles a heartbeat! It's scaring me ;-)

Hab ich was vepaßt??? Hast Du eine neuen Kernel für das Dockstar veröffentlicht ? Weil im ersten Post steht immernoch was von 2.6.35.4 und nicht 2.6.37?

Do i have missed something? Did you release your ne Kernel for Dockstar? Because in the first post of this thread the kernel version is 2.6.35.4 and not 2.6.37?

Hi,

the path for the ornage led has been changed from

/sys/class/leds/dockstar\:orange\:misc (old)

to

/sys/class/leds/dockstar\:orange\:health (new)

So if you disable the orange heartbeat flashing via rc.local you have to change the line for the ornage led to:

echo none       > /sys/class/leds/dockstar\:orange\:health/trigger

root@debian:/tmp/compcache-0.6.2# make install
make: *** No rule to make target `install'. Stop.

Sorry...:-) ....as you can see I´m not a Linux expert....anything I have to add...:-)

Really? I found it still in /sys/class/leds/dockstar:orange:misc while booting from the vanilla kernel.

sorry its my fault i change it in the next revision to healt and misc
back to default

I installed the 2.6.37 on my dockstar sucessfully. Now i wand to compile s2-liplianin to use my usb dvb-device.

What do i need to compile s2-liplianin?

I'd say try what's described here:

But as I didn't test the procedure myself yet, I'm not sure if there are problems or not and how the details will look like. If you have the time, good luck and please report back with your findings. ;-)

@ingmar_k, already tried, I don't think procedures in this link are applicable to 2.6.37. Maybe what we need is updated initramfs-tools...

OK, so it looks like it's no longer officially called compcache, but is now ZRAM and is indeed included in kernels >=2.636, AFAIK.

The readme provided here could give some more insight:

Had no real time to fully read it, but it seems to differ from the version on the googlecode site. I might be wrong, though. Unfortunately I simply don't have the time ATM for a more detailed look. ;-)

compcache package is not required for kernel 2.6.37, just need to have CONFIG_ZRAM=m in .config

Below are steps required to create the compressed RAM based block device and use it as swap space:

root@debian:~# modprobe zram
root@debian:~# ls -l /dev/zram*
brw-rw---- 1 root disk 254, 0 Jan 21 11:42 /dev/zram0
root@debian:~# cat /sys/block/zram0/disksize
0
# Create a 40MB RAM disk
root@debian:~# echo 41943040 > /sys/block/zram0/disksize
root@debian:~# mkswap /dev/zram0
Setting up swapspace version 1, size = 40956 KiB
no label, UUID=ad273409-8cc1-4679-aae3-3a9d716958b8
root@debian:~# swapon /dev/zram0
root@debian:~# swapon -s

Is there any discription how to compile and install a kernel.....Basically I can install the patches, compile (that task take around 30 minutes)......but what will be the next task.....

Seems no effect, the green light still on after "halt"...

Looks to me the "halt" command is not execute /etc/init.d/halt, cannot see the message "Will now halt", instead:

root@debian:/etc# halt

The system is going down for system halt NOW!
