Seeking advice on a reliable recipe for to get debian up on a dockstar

Well I followed the instructions here and ended up with errors running the squeeze script which it appears may be due to corrupt images (if I follow other posts on this forum correctly). After the script failed it appears as thought the device was able to phone home and shut off the ssh. Thanks to some advice from Johannes in a different post, I was able to register and get my ssh back. Now before I try and get emdebian up on this again, I thought I would ask for some advice.

First of all, is there currently a reliable recipe for getting the bootloader and some flavor of debian up on a dockstar?

If I read other posts correctly, the lenny instructions are working with non-corrupt images. Is this currently the best route to getting the job done or are there other better, well documented ways to approach this?

Lastly, here is the partition table from my SanDisk Cruzer Blade 4GB. Any warnings on this flash drive or my partition scheme?

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sdb1 * 63 2104514 1052226 83 Linux
/dev/sdb2 2105344 3153919 524288 82 Linux swap / Solaris
/dev/sdb3 3153920 7821311 2333696 b W95 FAT32

After believing that I bricked the device last night I am trying to be a bit more careful about my approach.

Thanks in advance for any pointers.

Well I started out using the Squeeze script and had problems that I later figured out that I could have resolved the issue that messed me up with the squeeze script. Anyway I ended up using the lenny script which kept failing when trying to mount /sda1 on /dev/tmp with a no such device or file error. After messing around a bit, I found that if I changed the mount command in the script to include -t ext2, I was able to mount the usb drive and load it up. Had a couple other minor issues but in the end, I now have Lenny up and running. Next question is the best way to upgrade from lenny. Any input?

Thanks for everyone's help thus far. Also is there an IRC channel somewhere to talk about this stuff?

although I can tell you that from experience, a dist upgrade is not always perfect ... and you may want to add the word "dockstar" to that search... seriously, good luck...

ymmv

PS. as far as I know, there is no IRC channel for this forum...

The most important thing is the bootloader. As soon as you have UBOOT or UBIT you can try a lot of things. Specifically for Debian Squeeze I can suggest my own howto:

This, however, assumes that you already have a modified bootloader .
