dockstar with wifi and usb audio stand alone without router.

I have my dockstar working with debian squeezebox server and wifi working with usb audio card in it. At this point, it connects to router in my home. I am asking you guys if you know a way to get this dockstar to broadcast wifi on it's own so I can control the dockstar with just my IPAD/itouch. I want to go to home with no router and plug in dockstar with wifi dongle and connect to it with IPAD.

Not sure what programs I need to install on dockstar to make this work.

What you want is that Dockstar acts as a wireless access point. This should be achievable without much effort . Just google for "debian squeeze access point". There are pretty much howtos for that on the net

Thanks , I'm still stuck, I'm hoping someone could make a copy and paste thing. I followed those links and other links but I don't see any for just the dockstar ( I did install the programs they suggested and tried to setup hostapd the right way.) Not exactly sure what I'm doing wrong.

What I want is the dockstar to broadcast a wifi signal that I can see on my IPAD , no router involved . So wifi broadcast from dockstar and IPAD controls the squeezebox server located on dockstar.

Once you have Debian installed on the Dockstar, you really just need to think "Debian". (at some point, the question becomes "what _can't_ one build w/ Debian?")

Come to think of it, I may try to create an AP based on Debian that I can use at my workplace. I already have an old wireless G router there, but maybe a cheap $3 wireless-n usb adapter could turn my unused Pogoplug into something like rgtaa wants (minus the squeezeserver).

Here's one just for the Dockstar (the preface is in German but the howto itself is in English)

Still, I completely agree with davygravy. You're running a full-blown Debian system and thus 99% of the Debian howtos you can find on the net are fully applicable to Dockstar/GoFlex/Pogo/whatever. Only when it comes to kernel or driver related issues should you look for something ARM specific.
