Ssd slow speed on goflex home running Debian-4.12.1-kirkwood
September 28, 2018 04:03AM
I have goflex home running Debian-4.12.1-kirkwood-tld-1-rootfs-bodhi.tar.bz2 on Colorful SL300 128GB via SATA port

I just tried a dd test and speed only 47MB/s it's too slow for SSD hard disk device
Quote

root@debian:~# dd if=/dev/zero of=/output.img bs=1024k count=1k
1024+0 records in
1024+0 records out
1073741824 bytes (1.1 GB, 1.0 GiB) copied, 22.5388 s, 47.6 MB/s
root@debian:~#

Anyone got this issue, is that hardware limit or something from kernel/os/u-boot
Is there any way to improve the speed?
Thanks,

I am not trying to discourage you, but it looks like that is how much you can get. However, I don't know you can use the hdparm utility to tweak an SSD card.

I have a 3 TB SATA HDD on my Seagate GoFLEX Home and it can only give me around 60 / 50 MBps write throughputs using the dd / f3 utilities, respectively, as shown below.

Hi habibie, Look like your result is better than mine, I have never test speed before on stock firmware and on ALARM firmware, so can't compare to see if any issue with OS.

I saw you tried to boot to ALARM with Bodhi's U-boot 2017, any success?. I have tried the latest ALARM image, boot console looks fine but system not up, no IP, no ssh...

Per Bodhi answer on my thread seem There is internal Usb 2.0 hub, and sata port is under that hub, so we can only get max speed of USB 2.0. But per device specs it's Serial ATA-300... I'm confusing...

No, that's your wrong assumption. See my response on other thread.

And please keep everything in one thread :) perhaps this one is more appropriate.

From the same discussion thread, I followed up Bodhi's post to tweak my NFS server.

As with ALARM, I have done with the testing and no longer used it.
