Own/Nextcloud very slow

Hi there!

I got latest rootfs and kernel on my Zyxel NSA325-v2 and nextcloud installed. But nextcloud runs very, very slow especially when browsing via the webif. Transferin files is also very slow, I use a HDD but my USB is blinking when transfering files so I think that either PHP or the webserver is writing temp files on the slow USB2.0 rootfs before writing them on the way faster HDD. Even my RaspberryPI is much more faster the same configuration because it uses a Class10 SD-Card.

However, SMB is very fast.

Any suggestions? This way my NAS is useless :/ Thank you.

lolinger,

To make it simple, use your HDD for rootfs too. No need to boot from USB.

Which means HDD always-on. This does not seem a suitable solution.

Ah. So you want to keep the USB rootfs for that! it is reasonable.

You'd want to redirect the system temp files to RAM and the Next Cloud temp files to the HDD. When the box is idle, the HDD will sleep.

1. See here for in general how to avoid writing to USB rootfs:

2. NextCloud: you would need to research which temp files NextCloud creates and writes to regularly and redirect those to a HDD folder.
