NSA325 v2 want to network boot only?

Hi!

After I installed the new u-boot and created the USB drive with Debian-4.12.1-kirkwood-tld-1-rootfs-bodhi.tar.bz2 I started the device.

It seems OK, but for some reason it just wants to network booting? Becouse I have no bootable network server, I'm getting BusyBox only.

It may be interesting, the content of the /etc/fw_env.conf file. Originally that has:

but actually it has:

Maybe it doesn't matter, I just noticed it.

Hey,

There's nothing in your uboot envs that would try to mount an NFS root. To me it looks like the init scripts on your rootfs have NFS entries in them that are being read as starting NFS root.

If this is a new build just recreate the rootfs. Make sure you only have 1 partition with the 'rootfs' label and no other drives with a copy of the rootfs or anything.

If it's not the rootfs trying to load NFS root then your DHCP server is sending mounting info (like a bootp server would), but that would be very odd if you didn't do it on purpose.

No, it does not want NFS rootfs, that error was misleading. Just the kernel trying to guess the problem.

You need to fix the problem with your rootfs. During the creation of rootfs, you should not have done step 4 (ecause you are booting with separate DTB with new u-boot).

Please replace kirkwood-goflexnet.dtb below with the correct DTB name for your box (see the folder /media/sdb1/boot/dts for the exact spelling of your Kirkwood box name).

Generate the uImage with DTB embedded inside:

So mount your USB rootfs on another LInux box and, assuming it is mounted at /media/sdb1

And then umount the USB, bring it back to the NSA325 box and power up.

Power up with the USB rootfs after fixing uImage as described above.

Interrupt serial console and,

After booting into Debian, fix the /etc/fw_env.conf file. This is the correct settings for NSA325:

The mtdparts was wrong. Now the Debian is running!

Next question is how to install it to NAND or HDD but not here in that topic. I will read about these things but if you (or anybody) have instructions or link(s), it would be good for me.

You can create rootfs again on HDD. It is exactly the same as on USB.

Or you can clone the rootfs from USB to HDD.
