Running boards off battery .. considerations?

I'm thinking about running a pogoplug off a l2v lead acid battery using one of the ubiquitous 12V to 5V adapters and wiring straight to the dc input on the board.

Does anyone know what gotcha's I should be aware of?

What amperage or wattage at 5V would I need?

A deep discharge or deep cycle lead acid would be needed. Car & similar batteries are mostly meant just to give a burst for starting, any significance discharge damages them. Lead-acid battery: Cycles

What about the adapter/power to the pogoplug issues?
