bodhi,

I don't have a permanent serial cable installed. could you include ttyprintk option in future kernel builds? I believe this will allow console=ttyprintk in kernel cmdline to show init messages to netconsole to help troubleshoot issues without opening things up.

It has potential, but looks like it does not work (at least in my initial testing).

Have you done this in Debian?

That's unfortunate. I have not yet compiled to test myself but had high hopes.

I set netconsole from my uBoot bootargs when needed.

No, I meant the kernel boot log can be seen already by setting up netconsole module in /etc/initramfs-tools/modules.

The part that cannot be seen in the netconsole log is userspace syslog (i.e. rootfs mounting and daemon starting).
