Solved -- goflex home debian install problem from rescue 2.8.1
September 04, 2012 12:33AM
I just installed rescue 2.81 from davygravy. Then tried to install wheezy. I am getting

# Starting debootstrap installation
E: unrecognized or invalid option --no-check-gpg
debootstrap failed.
See /tmp/debian/debootstrap/debootstrap.log for more information.

Then I tried Jeff's rescue on old dockstar with same drive. Wheezy and squeeze both give me exact same error.

Answering my own post for others who may find the same error

I read somewhere on the forum that I am supposed to kill existing debootstrap. So here is what I did.

rescue:~# whereis debootstrap
debootstrap: /usr/sbin/debootstrap /usr/share/debootstrap
rescue:~# mount -o remount,rw /
rescue:~# mv /usr/sbin/debootstrap /usr/sbin/old.debootstrap
rescue:~# mv /usr/share/debootstrap /usr/share/old.debootstrap

+1 for metric !

Thanks for sharing that. I got the same error 'invalid option --no-check-gpg'
Thanks a ton for that assist. I was sure that the problem was that I was attempting to install this all to a 1TB HDD instead of your usual 16GB USB Drive.
