GoFlexNet Bricked after installing Mainline U-Boot
August 11, 2014 09:28AM
I happened to have the perfect GoFlexNet setup, latest uBoot, netconsole enabled, recovery enabled, I was using Archlinuxarm, I went ahead and installed mainline uBoot, which removed all the mtdpartitions except uBoot and data, I lost recovery and netconsole, I somehow flashed Jeff' uBoot from Archlinux and screwed it up

Now the LED does not blink, there is no connectivity, I have serial access, but when logging into it using Serial I'm not able to see anything just some lines going across the screen

Does anybody have UART experience, like booting it from kwboot

pboricha,

There are numerous threads in this forum where people used UART booting to unbrick their boxes! Starting with instruction in davygravy's post:

You can download the latest GoFlex Net U-Boot and kwboot here:

Thanks for the links,

I can work my way through most of the things, booting debian/archlinux, installing u-Boot/Recovery, however I do not understand how to do this from a Windows machine

/kwboot -t -B 115200 /dev/ttyUSB0 -b uboot.goflexnet-IDEpatched-netconsoleON.kwb -p

I have serial access to the GoFlexNet, however just see lines scrolling, will upload the screenshot later today...

Thanks

You can't do that from a Windows machine. You will need to use either Linux VM, or a Live CD/USB
I tried using Fedora via VirtualBox but stuck at reboot the device

[root@localhost uboot]# ./kwboot -t -B 115200 /dev/ttyUSB1 -b uboot.kwb
Sending boot message. Please reboot the target.../^C
[root@localhost uboot]# ./kwboot -t -B 115200 /dev/ttyUSB1 -b uboot.kwb -p

Looks that you have a device which does not support UART booting. In this case the only way is a JTAG interface to recover your device. I also have a Goflex Net device with boot ROM v 1.11 which does not support UART booting.
