Ran Jeff's install on new Dockstar failed, Please help
January 06, 2011 04:05PM
I just received a new Dockstar.
I changed the /etc/init.d/rcS file to comment out "phone home".
Tried to run

#fdisk /dev/sda

on a new 4 gig stick and it returned no such command.

I could run other Busybox commands, but not fdisk.
Wierd.
So I Used

#Busybox fdisk -l

and that worked. But I decided to partition the new 4 gig stick on my Linux desktop plugged it back into the Dockstar and then from Jeff's tutorial ......
http://jeff.doozan.com/debian/
I followed the Debian installer:

#cd /tmp
#wget http://jeff.doozan.com/debian/dockstar.debian-squeeze.sh
#chmod +x dockstar.debian-squeeze.sh
#export PATH=$PATH:/usr/sbin:/sbin
#/.dockstar.debian-squeeze.sh

It failed, below is the debootstraplog.

It looks like the Dockstar was reflashed and it will boot to Pogoplug.
The flash stick definitely will not boot though.

Hopefully someone can help.

Re: Ran Jeff's install on new Dockstar failed, Please help
January 06, 2011 05:04PM
If I am reading the log correctly it looks like the Dockstar flash is good and it does default to Pogoplug when no bootable usb flash is installed. When I ssh into the Dockstar this is what is in /.

Pogoplug:/$ ls -l
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 0 Aug 26 2009 bin
drwxr-xr-x 5 root root 0 Feb 26 2008 dev
drwxr-xr-x 4 root root 0 Jan 6 21:21 etc
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 0 Aug 26 2009 lib
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 11 Aug 26 2009 linuxrc -> bin/busybox
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 0 Dec 18 2008 mnt
dr-xr-xr-x 37 root root 0 Jan 1 1970 proc
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 0 Jan 6 21:21 root
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 0 Jan 6 21:21 sbin
drwxr-xr-x 10 root root 0 Jan 1 1970 sys
drwxrwxrwt 3 root root 80 Jan 1 2000 tmp
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 524288 Jan 6 21:21 uboot-original-mtd0.kwb
drwxr-xr-x 7 root root 0 Jan 6 2009 usr
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 8 Aug 26 2009 var -> /tmp/var
Pogoplug:/$

When I df -h I get ..........

Pogoplug:/$ df -h
Filesystem Size Used Available Use% Mounted on
/dev/mtdblock2 32.0M 16.4M 15.6M 51% /
none 61.6M 4.0k 61.6M 0% /tmp

It looks like the USB drive did not get all of the Debian install.

Any ideas what I can do?

The script was using a Canadian mirror and I needed a US mirror.
