If I want to install uboot.2017.07-tld-1.goflexhome.mtd0.kwb on a stock Seagate GoFlexHome unit, do I first have to go through the process described here https://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv5/seagate-goflex-home ?

Log in the stock OS, and follow instruction in the u-boot thread to install it.
