Hello bodhi, now there's no way to boot... he continuously gives "Bad Data CRC". I've tried 4 times with no success, even after re-downloading (and checking md5) the whole debian rootfs for 4.4.54:

Meanwhile, with 5.4.101 I have the usual behaviour:

It looks like the kernel was not even started. Usually we would see

Quote

Starting kernel ...

Uncompressing Linux... done, booting the kernel.

So I don't know if will work at all for this this box.

The behavior is similar to the case when a conficting HW address is being used for the Iomega. So I guess we should look closely at the stock u-boot boot log and compare it with the Pogo V3 log.

If it could be of any help, I removed the usb drive and switched the HDD back to the original one with stock u-boot and olderzeus's 2.6 kernel.

Don't worry about udev errors while booting linux. They're due to the fact that I tried to dist-upgrade from squeeze to wheezy but olderzeus's kernel is too old.

Thank you again

Miclaud,

I think you need to go back further and try the smaller size uImage in case it is a problem.

Updated 12 Feb 2015:

Kernel linux-3.18.5-oxnas-tld-1 package was uploaded. The following features are new in this version:

- Added various kernel configuration that are newly available in 3.18, and also various kernel configuration per forum users requests: loop device, stock wifi supports, encrypted fs.

Note: beginning this version, we can dist-upgrade to jessie (not possible with previous kernel version 3.17.0-oxnas-tld-1 or earlier).

Hi,

Seems like there is quite much trouble with this old device.

Could it be possible to use known good old U-Boot by simply cutting too big kernel image in two parts and loading them one by one? Or is there some other limitations why old U-Boot and new kernel do not match each other?

If this works, there is at least one less possible trouble maker since U-Boot is known to ge good.

tilator,

The new u-boot was not built for this box. It was built for the Pogoplug V3.

It is not possible to do that. The only way is to reconfigure the kernel to move a lot of stuff out to modules. And/or removing unused feature.

That's not the reason. Old u-boot can start new kernel just fine. We just need configure u-boot envs to boot the new rootfs on USB or HDD.
