My Mele is bricked!

Note:
The Linux SD images will not brick your A10 device. They can't be bricked. The Linux SD images also will not touch your Android on the flash. So don't worry about that.

But Android is not as stable as Debian in any version. So far in Android my tablet has locked up twice, and the Mele has locked up twice. In all those instances they had to be reflashed. So make sure you have made backups of your Android app and settings using Titanium Backup or a similar program. Backups are always a prudent thing to do.

It had to come eventually. The very first "bricked" thread! I just never thought I would be the one posting it. . .

I just got my Mele A2000 on Friday. Now it is already bricked. I suppose that is good news for Jeff. It makes the Mele a genuine "hacker" device just like the Dockstar! So the Mele definitely belongs here on his site.

I was writing the review of the Mele yesterday evening. I had just completed the Android 2.3 page. I had just installed a root terminal, and backed up the Android 2.3 APKs. Now this morning the stupid thing just hangs at the first Mele screen. Nothing else ever appears. I even tried to upgrade it to Android 4.0 using an SD card made with Phoenix card in Windows. The upgrade never completes. The LED just keeps flashing - even after several hours. I don't know what is wrong, and why it will not boot or upgrade.

It boots to Debian just fine using the SD card image.

Edit:
Now I do know what is wrong:

Android 2.3 is rubbish. . .

I even tried to upgrade it to Android 4.0 using an SD card made with Phoenix card in Windows.

The upgrade image I downloaded directly from the Mele site link was corrupted. I downloaded a Mele Android 4.0 dd image from Lundman's site and it worked perfectly!

Beware of the Mele link, even if you can understand Chinese.
