IX4-200D no SSH access
September 03, 2020 11:19PM
Hello,

i run into a problem with the SSH access to my IX4-200d (Firmware: 2.1.50.30227). The WebGui is fine, the support access is activated and a couple of times stopped and started.

SSH reports a connection refused always.

Because of a shell script running on the box, i am able to take a look into the log.

Is there any other option to get access to the box to fix this issue?

Any help welcome.

Ruebezahl,

Usually these boxes have some way to recover using a USB drive that has some special binaries on it so it will do the rescue during power up. Look at Iomega/Lenovo website to find the rescue FW for your box.

If you cannot find any rescue FW like that, then you need to connect serial console, so that you can observe what's going on during boot. And then possibly load a Debian kernel/rootfs such as one I released, and try booting with it:

Bodhi,

thanks for that answer, looks like that i must go the long way.....
Was looking for detailed HowTo to access the serial console on the IOMEGA IX4-200d, but can't find really useful information about that.
But found the Lenovo recovery software.

I have recovered/upgraded before on similar device and ssh service was disabled after reboot but some flag/file still on the system triggered the ssh access enabled warnings. The webui and lcd were saying ssh was enabled but when visiting the page to enable/disable the ssh service, it was disabled.
