Looks like Synology caused a backlash with their new requirements for hard disks. Probably their executives got greedy.

Going Apple like, soon the drives will be hard mounted in the NAS and not replaceable. Disposable tech produced with "sustainable materials". Enshitification :(

Enshitification indeed!

At least Apple wall garden has some justification as a system more secure than a free-for-all Android.
