Suggestion: HOWTO Forum

Hi

There is an awesome number of HOWTOs coming up at the moment. They are a brilliant resource and very well written. To make these more accessible: would it be possible to create a new forum (HOWTO might be an easy name) in which only HOWTOs and their discussions are placed? I am not refering to the threads of installing uboot and debian (they should definitely rest in their fora), but e.g. the samba, nfs, LMS, ... HOWTOs.

This would make finding them much easier.

Comments?

Thanks,

Rainer

I know - but wouldn't it be easier to have all in one place?

Also: These are not only Debian HOWTOs - also hardware hacking and others which would be possibly better in their own forum?

I hesitated to post the "tutorial" about the fan with magnets for a couple reasons. First, I sense there's a legitimate trend toward SOC computers that take up as much space in their entirety as the fan itself! Secondly it's real low tech.

But I'd argue desks have been around for such a long time, and dedicated desktop computers so well received - add to that the operating systems that wont run on SOC that a consumer registered software for - I think we'll be seeing towers for quite a while into the future.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it :-)

@JoeyPogoPlugE02

I think you did good in posting it - it is a great idea *as* it is very low tech and very useful (especially in summer times...).

Thanks

Rainer

There is a reason: I am still not sure about whether we'll have a real Wiki. Hence, the Wiki thread serves as the place holder to gather all HowTo posts temporarily.

Aslo, I'd like to take things slowly. We're all have a real job or other main obligations, so this hobby should progress as time permitted :).

Thank you kindly sir! Yeah my computers aim to be like my used cars over the years, when they eventually die (with very high miles), everything so perfectly dies at once not much is salvageable LOL But they drive like an extension of yourself.
