Goflex Home/Net Pogoplug V4/Mobile Power jack

Guys,

The Goflex Home/Net and Pogoplug V4/Mobile plugs use a power supply which is 5V 1.5A/2A, and has a male barrel jack (is that what it called?) that plugs into the plug rear female jack.

Anybody knows the size of this power jack? is 5.5x2.5mm male a correct description?

Would this allow me to use my laptop battery to run our typical plugs (i.e. Pogo Mobile, Dockstar, …) without an HDD attached?

I'm a software guy so perhaps the answer is trivial to a lot of EEs among us... but not to me :)
