I'm pretty sure there will be lots of good deal, but I can't and/or won't be able to participate, i.e. not a prime member, unfortunately.

I don't see deals I can relate/afford anyway, but I'm on another trial of Prime. For all of Amazon's downside at least Prime is fine with you cancelling if you're not saving money.

Having said that, Wal Mart and Target etc are having similar blowouts, and surely others can take a hint as well.

FireTV stick for around $16? I dunno. Sandisk deals would be great as well as more internal hard drive 2TBs. This is in my future, a switchbox supplying power to internal hard drives or whatever you hook up to the switches:

https://www.amazon.com/Kingwin-Optimized-Controls-Provide-Longevity/dp/B00TZR3E70/ref=rvi_sccl_5/132-0243800-0796658?

That's not on sale though, but still lower than I've seen it.

R U saying you can get a free trial of prime member, cancel it, then get another, and repeat the process for multiple times?

Yes you can cancel before the trial is over. They will offer another 30 day trial in the future.
Not long ago, seems like 3 months, I didn't have any Prime but was down to pennies to include shipping and went with the Free shipping option. Up popped up a message saying Amazon had free Prime for that order. So that was cool. It came significantly later than 2 days however.

The stuff I buy isn't any more attractive WITH Prime than without.

FWIW here is an adapter that allows me to have a USB stick in my Seagate Theatre +:

https://www.amazon.com/USB-Female-Mini-Adapter/dp/B00474R7HO?

I was expecting the Videos, Photos etc to have been indexed to show up easily in the menus but I haven't figured out what needs to be done.

FWIW 2.0 bonus ramble: I already ordered two of these power switches (that orient to an unused PCI slot) a week ago:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B082L27GV2?

Should be here in 2 more weeks. Can wire that to fans or HDs SSDs etc

Psychological well-being of power supplies

As an afterthought, I think those hard drive/SSD power button units are the bees knees for obvious reasons, but I have a nagging hunch that a lot of people who use high watt power supplies may somehow be operating way out of the PS's efficiency sweet-spot.

I used to buy such an adapter from AliExpress for less than a quarter.

The party is really taking off :-) .

FWIW, a hard drive dock I'm eyeing:

:))

BTW, talking about hotswap reminding of this.

Have you guys ever come across thumb screws of various size (sell in a bundle)? sometime I got tired of using the screw driver to open up a box and/or removing the HDD.

Looks like a good deal to me.

On my old AMD64 system, I have a similar hard drive dock with a lock in the front. IIRC, I bought it from NewEGG long ago and don't remember exactly how much I paid for it. Regardless, it says it supports hot swap. However, I still have to manually sync and dismount the HDD before pull it out from the hard drive dock.

AFAIK supporting hotswap for a harddisk dock only means that the earth pin will connect first, so that a difference in potential is not absorbed by the data pins. Sata supports hotswap if the power supply does (almost always). The big problem is the OS. Linux handles it fine. And yes, you have to unmount yourself, as the dock doesn't give an early warning to the OS.

+1.

Also, even though their specs did not mention hotswap, the small Kirkwood plugs like Pogo V4, GoFlex Net/Home handles the insert/remove just fine (Disclaimer: please do this only at your own risk). And always unmount the drive before removing it.
